Colts rush to perfect 12-0 season
In the Police Athletic League regional championship game last month, the 7th & 8th grade team in the Aldo Rossi Parkrose Youth Football program capped an undefeated season shutting out Seattle's champions, the Beacon Hill Cowboys, 35-0 at Roosevelt High School.

The Parkrose Colts and Reynolds Green 7th and 8th grade Police Athletic League football teams had outstanding seasons. Last month they met on a rainy night to determine the city champion. By virtue of a 9-6 score, Parkrose claimed the title. Many Parkrose Colts players also won city as 3rd and 4th graders and again as 5th and 6th graders.

Mykol Burton, who has coached this group since they were third graders, was thrilled after they won the city title. “I'm the happiest man in the world. It was very overwhelming.”

Burton was impressed with his players' competitiveness and determination all season. He said his players told him at the beginning of the season they wanted to go undefeated but he took it with a grain of salt. “They told me at the beginning of the year they wanted to go undefeated and I was like, 'whatever.' They put in a lotta work; a whole lotta work.”

Going forward Burton said he wants to keep them together as a group. “That's a good group of boys. Any coach that gets those kids will love them. My goal is to keep them as a team wherever they go.”

In the PAL regional championship game held the following weekend, the Colts beat the Becaon Hill Cowboys, Seattle's 7th and 8th grade football champions, 35-0, finishing the season undefeated at 12-0.
